On Friday, December 5, members of Hampton Bays School District’s Life Skills program performed a concert to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. The concert was led by Mrs. Padilla and Mrs. Mazur.
During the concert, students played boom whackers, buckets with drum sticks, and hand chimes. When asked, two life skills students, Juan and Ashley said their favorite instrument to play during the concert was the bells. They also enjoyed getting to work with the middle school’s life skills program and getting to help pick some of the music that was performed at the concert such as “Jingle Bells.”
The students performed songs such as “Let it Snow,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Jingle Bell Rock” on the boom whackers. They also performed songs such as “Carol of the Bells” and “ All I want for Christmas” on the buckets. Songs like “All I want for Christmas” and “Feliz Navidad” encouraged the audience to join in and sing along. The performance got a standing ovation and was a great start to the holiday season.
