Managing Stress During AP Season
May 1, 2021
AP Exams can be very stressful for high schoolers. With some students taking multiple tests that have much weight on them, it is important to try to alleviate stress and do everything you can to be healthy mentally when taking your test. In order to be successful on these exams, you need to take the correct steps to prepare for them in terms of content, but also physically and mentally.
Here are some tips on how to prepare for the AP exams and manage your stress:
- Using AP Review books: A good AP Review book series is the “5 Steps to a 5” review books which give studying plans and practice exams to help you review
- Use Practice Exams: Practice exams will help you see what actual questions they will be like and how they are worded
- Studying with a group of people: When you study alone it can be hard to concentrate and stay on topic, but when you’re in a group of people, you can all make each other accountable for studying
- Eat a good meal the night before: It is important to be physically healthy the night before an important exam
- Don’t cram all your studying into one night: It is important to give yourself a few weeks to study and manage your time.
- Take breaks when studying: It is important to your brain to take breaks when studying. This allows you to have a mental breather and be able to retain more information.
- Practice mindfulness: meditate and do yoga.
- Exercise to reduce stress
- Drink lots of water
