The girls varsity lacrosse team ended their 2024 season with a victory after several months of hard work.
The girls varsity lacrosse team this season was coached and led by Jules Radin along with assistant coach Alexandra Alliegro. Captains Allison Booth, Taylor Meyers and Eden Brown helped lead the team.
Coach Radin became inspired to coach lacrosse because of his daughter 16 years ago. Eventually team captain Taylor Meyers inspired him to lead the Hampton Bays Girls Lacrosse team when he heard that there were less and less girls signing up. “I wanted to make a difference and build a program at Hampton Bays. We are only at the beginning, but it is moving forwards as we planned,” said Radin.
Coach Radin focused on helping the players improve their abilities. “Everyone develops and learns at different speeds, and I just try to help them keep moving forward.” He enjoys seeing the girls improve, make mistakes, and most importantly have fun.
Brown, one of the team captains, shared some words about her leadership role. “My favorite thing about being team captain is being a leader and helping my teammates.” She described the season as exciting and had fun while sharing long-lasting memories with her teammates.
Taylor Meyers has been on the varsity team since seventh grade and this was her first year as team captain. Meyers doesn’t feel pressure as she works with two other captains that help each other out when needed. This season she earned the milestone of scoring 100 career points.
Junior Eden Spellman, was excited for this season of lacrosse and was able to bond with her teammates, making practices more fun.
The team’s final game ended with a victory against Southampton. The last game was filled with emotions especially for seniors who had their last game of the year, and closed out the season on a high note.
